2010 Summer Camp Diary:
8-22-10: Where does the summer go? The coins have been spread all over New Hampshire this summer (and a few were dropped in Maine). From Papa Ginos, to Holy Rosary Credit Union, to Milton Lake, to the Conway Scenic Railroad, to Petco, to the Children's Museum and a fun photo shoot at the Oaks...... WOW! We also had some excitement right at camp! Paint-for-fun, Layne Case, Book Author, Conservation Officer came with furs, BJ Hickman, Naked Plates, a trip with Walmart with Mrs. Knapp (and ice cream after), camping in the gym and that is just for August! High five to my counselors that have also planned games, art projects and given these kids a great summer!

This summer has been priceless and I am truly proud to say that Tri City Christian Academy made a difference in these coin's lives. Perhaps some day the will all say "I remember when we went to camp and....got to have our picture taken at the Oaks, or we got to make homemade sidewalk chaulk, or cooked that lunch for the camp, or when we went to the adopt-a-spot and made that corner look nice. Or I remember when we camped out at the gym, played candy bingo and didn't go to bed until 3:30 am!!"

I am truly blessed and hope that each and every camper knows how much they are loved and cared about.
Mrs. Knapp

Next week we are going green!!!!

8-2-10: Hannaford field trip last week with the pennies and quarters was awesome! We learned about great food choices and what it takes to be a cashier! We took dimes and quarters to the Holy Rosary Credit Union and learned about being a banker and what a bank does for us. Funny they wouldn't take our dimes and quarters, however. The Dimes were then off to Home Depot in Rochester where they made periscopes. It was a great time watching children use hammers and follow directions....After we went to Burger King for lunch. FUN!! While the dimes were at Home Depot in Rochester the rest of camp enjoyed the Wildlife Encounters Zoo. I am not sure but I heard that coins are all over the place and need to be rolled....... Jordan May actually was handed cans of spray paint and told to spray the shutters at our adopt-a-spot on Friday! High Five Jordan, we rock!! Come take a look...corner of Maple Street and Tate's Brook Road.
HAPPY SUMMER!! ~~Mrs. Knapp~~

7-29-10: What an amazing week we had! Monday the coins gathered at Milton Lake for a beautiful day in the sun and sand. W brought our dimes and quarters to Hannaford for a neat tour! Holy Rosary Credit Union came to speak to our pennies and nickels about saving money through book reading. And we were rolling at Dover Bowl with our dimes and quarters! You should have seen those pins fall! Great job quarters with your international feast and "skits"!! The pennies had a great time Friday morning going to our West High Street campus and playing on the playground!

7-19-10: WOW!! 43 children went mini golfing recently at Hilltop Fun Center!! There were several cheers and hole-in-ones along the way. I am very proud of our campers and how well they behaved as well. The pennies are off to the farm today! Somersworth Police made no arrests on Monday but he did let the children sit in the car...some children even got to wear his hat! The quarters have a country fair planned for today!! (Rumor has it that means candy apples, fried dough, pop corn, games and fun!). Friday the campers go to the camp store and spend their earned coins!! Mrs. Walker also gives us our brads for our camp bags every Friday!!! Mrs. Knapp LOVES that!!

7-11-10: What a hot week we had with record breaking tempatures! But, have no fear......we were chillin' at camp. Milton Lake was an awesome day! All the coins found lots of treasures while digging in the sand and swimming! Paint-for-Fun came and we painted amazing animals. They were a lot of fun and are coming back in August!! York's Wild Kingdom was definitely a hit! All the children loved the zoo and parents came along for the fun. My counselors and I would like to thank all the supportive parents!! Mrs. Knapp is now humming "we are family!!" See you on the farm next week.

7-1-10: What a priceless week! We are off to a great start with all of our coins! The sunny weather has made it a wonderful shiny week. I am very happy that all the coins have stepped into the summer with a smiling face and cheerful heart! We had the FISH AND GAME DEPARTMENT come, thank you Paul. We hunted for pounds of strawberries! We learned our camp chant! Some special guests arrived, 3 lobsters (thank you Mrs. Ellis), and best of all the ice cream truck arrived! Friday we are making strawberry jam! I can't wait to see what next week brings.

6-23-10: Summer Camp is going to Adopt-A-Spot at the corner of Maple Stree and Tates Brook Road. Volunteers wanted to donate tools, perennial flowers, to help lift shovels, to take pictures and to help the summer camp kids make the spot attractive. Details soon!

Summer Camp Quotes from Campers:

"Thank you for taking us to get out pictures taken at the Oaks, Mrs. Knapp!" *A quarter that is a photo bug!

"That was awesome!" *a dime that went on the train

"Can I please come back next year to camp?" *A "getting older" quarter

Overheard as Mrs. Knapp walked by one of the pennies "Yes I have 'scum scream' on!!" Mrs. Knapp just had to laugh!

"I don't know how to bowl with the big balls but look I got a strike!" a shiny quarter

"I am going to get two coins today!!"

Overheard by a shiny penny..."This is awesome!" (when they saw the ice cream truck), and "Why did you pick me up so early?" from a dime.

June 2010 Camper Quote...."I can't wait for the ice cream truck!"

A quote was heard as we passed by from one of the residents of Riverside Nursing Home.... "We are the past and they are the present"

And a camper said this about the Riverside trip...."I love doing this!"

After days and days of rain and drizzle...."I am going to put sunscreen on the sun when it comes out!"

2010 Summer Camp Chant:

Pennies have a special shine
Nickels make our day just fine
Dimes will smile and share all day
Quarters always lead the way

Our director you can thank
On this I know you can bank

At summer camp all coins have fun
when we play, and laugh and run!
