COVID-19 and Influenza
A letter from Mr. Edgar about the COVID-19 virus and Influenza
March 14, 2020
Dear TCCA Families, Faculty, and Staff:
TCCA continues to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Our ongoing precautions include emphasis on proper hand-washing, temperature checks, surface disinfecting, and more frequent servicing of our HVAC air filters. While there have not yet been any known cases of COVID-19 in the Tri-City area, we will be taking several new steps next week to ensure that TCCA can continue to provide safe and effective learning to our students.
Essentially, TCCA will be holding a working professional development day on Friday, March 20 to prepare for delivering online lessons to TCCA students if it becomes necessary to suspend school attendance in the future. We do not think this will happen, but if it does, we want to be well prepared in advance.
Our teachers have already received some training in the area of providing remote learning, but more training and coordination with our school management software will be required. Hopefully, this letter will provide sufficient advance notice for our families to make arrangements for the care of their children on March 20th.
Even if we do not directly utilize these online learning methods at TCCA in the near future, having the versatility to deliver lessons via the Internet could very likely have some significant long-term benefits for TCCA’s future educational program.
As always, if the local virus situation changes, TCCA will respond appropriately with communications to our community as soon as possible. If you decide keeping your child(ren) home during this unusual and challenging period would be the best option for your family, our teachers will be ready to assist with their lessons and work assignments. All such absences will be counted as “excused.” If you have any questions or concerns with which I can help, please contact me. And remember, please wash your hands!
Paul T. Edgar
